Terms of Use

1. Scope and provider

These terms govern use of the Lumefide iOS app and Lumefide Plus offered by Valentin Spöth, sole proprietor, Turnhallestrasse 31, 77654 Offenburg, Germany. They supplement Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (“Standard EULA”). If these terms conflict with mandatory law or the Standard EULA in an area controlled by Apple, the mandatory rule or Standard EULA prevails.

2. Minimum age

Lumefide is intended for people aged 13 and older and is not designed for Apple’s Kids Category. Minors may use Lumefide only to the extent permitted by applicable law and their Apple Account settings. A purchase by a minor may require consent from a parent or guardian. Apple purchase approval and Family Sharing features may apply depending on the account and country.

3. Intended use

Lumefide is a calm, cross-denominational Christian companion for personal goals, prayer, Bible reading, gratitude, reflection, daily check-ins, guided faith journeys, and related habits. It may be used only lawfully, for personal purposes, and in a manner that does not impair the app, Apple services, or the rights of others. Lumefide is not affiliated with a church, denomination, or religious organization.

4. Availability and development

We aim to keep Lumefide reliable but do not promise uninterrupted, error-free, or permanent availability. Functions can depend on the iPhone, iOS version, Apple Account, iCloud, App Store, notification settings, connectivity, regional availability, and Apple services. We may maintain, improve, adapt, add, or remove functions for security, compatibility, legal compliance, or product development, taking reasonable account of users’ legitimate interests.

5. Local data and private iCloud synchronization

Personal entries and app records are stored locally on the device. When iCloud is available for Lumefide and enabled, supported database records synchronize through the user’s private iCloud database. Without iCloud, data remains only on the device. The user is responsible for maintaining access to the iPhone, Apple Account, iCloud storage, credentials, and device security. Device loss, deletion, storage failure, disabled iCloud, or Apple service issues can affect availability. Lumefide offers no absolute guarantee against data loss.

The in-app deletion control removes app-managed data. Apple-controlled backups, account information, and transaction records may need to be managed separately through Apple.

6. Lumefide Plus and Apple subscriptions

Lumefide Plus is offered as an auto-renewable monthly or annual subscription through Apple’s In-App Purchase system. Apple processes billing and subscription management; RevenueCat is used technically to validate purchase and Plus entitlement status with an anonymous app user identifier. The current price, billing period, renewal terms, and any available trial offer are displayed in Apple’s purchase view before confirmation. The Apple purchase view is authoritative; no fixed website price forms part of these terms.

• The monthly subscription is intended to start billing immediately without a free trial; confirm the current terms in Apple’s purchase view.
• The annual subscription may include a seven-day free trial only if Apple displays the offer and confirms introductory-offer eligibility.
• If Apple does not display the offer or does not confirm eligibility, no trial is granted.
• Unless canceled in time through the Apple Account, the subscription renews under the terms shown by Apple.
• Users manage or cancel subscriptions through their Apple Account.
• Existing purchases can be restored using the in-app restore function and the same Apple Account.

Both subscription periods are intended to unlock the same Plus feature set. Plus includes unlimited active goals, unlimited active and custom habit entries, historical insights, widgets, premium designs and app icons, focus mode, full access to all three guided faith journeys after the first day of each journey, additional reflection, and up to three streak restorations per month. The first day of each guided faith journey is available without Plus. Feature availability can still depend on device and iOS capabilities.

7. No guaranteed spiritual or emotional outcome

Lumefide supports personal routines but does not guarantee closeness to God, a particular spiritual development, emotional improvement, habit change, or any other result. Users remain responsible for their choices and how they interpret app content.

8. No professional, medical, or emergency service

Lumefide does not provide medical, psychotherapeutic, psychological, pastoral-professional, legal, or other professional advice. It is not a crisis or emergency service. In immediate danger, contact local emergency services. For health or mental-health concerns, seek qualified professional help.

9. Liability and mandatory rights

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where prohibited by law. We remain liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, injury to life, body, or health, guarantees expressly assumed, fraudulent concealment, and liability under mandatory product-liability law.

For ordinary negligence, we are liable only for breach of an essential contractual obligation whose fulfillment enables proper performance and on whose observance users may ordinarily rely; liability is then limited to the foreseeable damage typical for the contract. Mandatory consumer warranty, conformity, digital-content, and other consumer rights remain unaffected.

10. Applicable law

German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods, to the extent this choice does not deprive consumers of mandatory protections of the country of their habitual residence. Statutory rules on jurisdiction remain unaffected.

11. Consumer dispute resolution

We are neither willing nor obliged to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.

12. Changes and contact

We may update these terms for legal, security, technical, or product reasons. Changes will not apply retroactively in a way that unlawfully disadvantages users. Material changes are communicated appropriately.
